Equipment & Dress

COSTUMES

For performances each female dancer will require a black, 3/4 sleeve cotton lycra leotard and black opaque tights with their hair in a high ponytail, ‘half up-half down’ style using the ribbon provided.

Male dancers will require a black or white collared shirt, and black trousers.

The School provides skirts, sashes and ribbons.

SHOES

Initially, beginners may practice in bare feet or wear a pair of black soft ballet or jazz type shoes.  Once they begin to perform, each dancer will require a pair of black soft shoes suitable for dancing.

Beginners do not require hard shoes straight away.  Hard Shoes are available to hire through the School at a cost of $30.00 per year. Once your feet are fully grown dancers are expected to provide their own shoes.

Shoes to be worn only for performances on approved surfaces. Shoes damaged due to neglect will be the financial responsibility of the dancer/family.

Irish pump shoes can be purchased from McPhees Celtic Centre website www.mcphees.co.nz or Trade Me which is a good source for both soft and hard shoes.
